Is This Thing ON?
Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama, George Bush (Sr and W), Joe Biden (all too often), and untold others have experienced the shocking horror of thinking out loud or musing with another individual within earshot of a microphone that was left "ON" unbeknownst to them. This is then followed by the dreaded "my words were out of context" diatribes as attempts are made to cover over such gaffes. Not so in the virtual (yet still synthetic) world of blogging.
If you do not write, it will not be recorded. When you do, you have the opportunity to place things within their respective contexts which unfortunately are still often aborted from their full life spans. I have missed the idea of the discipline that I had hoped blogging would bring. I say the “idea” because that is all it ever came to be – an idea lost within the annals of great intentions, best laid plans, and somewhere squashed beneath a pair of mice and men. I bet Lenny did it.
I come to surprising realize that this blog has become known for three primary posts, none of which I ever intended to be the attention grabbers. A review of Thom Rainer and Eric Geiger’s Simple Church by far tops the charts of hits from search engines. And tied for a close second and third are a muse concerning the question of whether or not John Piper is a charismatic (**warning: spoiler – I neither make the statement nor argue against it, only link to a neat piece of writing that he produced that I have read with great intrigue on many occasions), and the lyrics to Travis Cottrell’s song "My Passion". Why this is I have no idea, but maybe, just maybe, I might actually produce something here in the coming weeks that may rival their attention.
But I wouldn’t hold your breath.
